Dear Parents/Guardians of ABRHS Freshmen and Sophomores:
For the past 20 years, undergraduate parents and other members of our community have produced Project Graduation, an all-night, alcohol and drug-free party exclusively for graduating seniors. Traditionally, this event is planned and carried out by parents/guardians of ABRHS undergraduates with participation and support from the Acton-Boxborough community
Our goal is to provide an evening of fun and safety on graduation night. The event is always a huge success; at least 90% of the senior class attends. The night features live entertainment, a DJ, hypnotist, arcade games, psychics, crafts and much more. In addition, food is served and prizes & scholarships are awarded. Common areas of the school are decorated with a secret theme, transformed into such venues as a space odyssey, movie sets, or "Survivor" locations, so the new graduates can escape with their friends to a fantasy land. Our decorations were honored with an award in 2007.
In a short two or three years, your sons and daughters will be treated to the same send-off. At this time, we would like to invite you to participate in the planning, production and/or financial support of this year's event. All parents and guardians of undergraduates are being invited to lend a hand. No special skills are required for any of the committees. As you may already know, the senior parents and guardians are never allowed to be involved as it is clearly their turn to enjoy all the excitement and activities that graduation season brings. That means when your child is a senior you do not have to help out in any of the planning or chaperoning of Project Graduation.
If time is an issue, you can still help us create "The Junior Trunk," a trunk/box containing dorm room essentials raffled off during Project Graduation. Please consider contributing to the trunk - new towels, sheets, bathroom carriers, gift cards, monetary donations, etc. In the past, we have been able to fill two or three trunks with dorm goodies. If you are interested in contributing, contact Brenda Laymance at abprojgrad09@gmail.com or call 978-264-3285.
Also, please support our fundraiser at Roche Brothers on TBS, 2009. They will donate 5% of receipts collected for purchases and gift cards between 4:00-7:00 pm. Please consider buying a gift card (which can be redeemed at anytime) for future shopping - this is where we benefit the most. They can be ordered in advance through us (and delivered to you) or purchased at the store during the collection period. For more information, see the May PTSO newsletter or send an email to: abprojgrad09@gmail.com.
Please join the Project Graduation committee this year to help create a send-off for our seniors that they will truly appreciate and remember forever. Thank you for your support. Remember that others after you will be doing the same for your son or daughter during their senior year.
Sincerely,
Janice Schlegel, Fundraising Chair
Shaila Golikeri, Project Graduation Chair (978) 653-9867
